Homework:
Students will have 30 minutes of reading each night; of that reading 15 minutes should be spent in each language (English and Spanish).  Math homework will be a sheet of facts that students will spend minimum of 10 minutes going over the mathematical formulas either mentally or with a scratch paper. Worksheet sent home should not be written on.  There will be no more additional homework. You’re welcome. J

Management:
Students will be sitting in team groups, where they can earn pom-poms in a small team bucket to receive a reward/prize when filled for good behavior.
We will be using a token system using tickets to track individual behavior. Tickets will be used in a class store on designated days.

Reading:
Individual reading is crucial to success! Your support at home is necessary for your child to be a successful reader. Encourage your child to choose good literature and make sure he/she is reading every night. When possible, have your child read a loud to you. Please be an active listener as your child reads to you and discuss the books with them that they are reading. READING IS ALWAYS A PART OF HOMEWORK!!

Math:
Each day your child will participate in a wide variety of mathematics activities. Your child will learn through hands-on experiences, discussion, and exploration. It will be a goal for your student to master the four basic math facts. They will be learning this in Spanish class, and will be reviewed and reinforced in the English class.

Writing:
Students will be writing Narratives (stories), Opinion, and Expository (telling about) pieces this year. We will be working on it each day with the goal of being able to succeed using 3rd grade rubrics and writing prompts. This will happen in English and Spanish.

We are looking forward to getting to know your student and family throughout this school year. We hope that we can partner together to help your child find success in and out of the classroom.

Thank you for your support,
And
